Japanese in origin, shiatsu literally translated means “finger pressure”. Often descripted as “acupuncture without needles”, it is based on the principle that all mammals have within their bodies an invisible network of “meridians” … channels through which energy (ki) flows. Along these channels exist pressure points (tsubos).
Blocked or stagnant energy can cause many aliments and can directly affect behaviour, health and wellbeing.
Shiatsu skilfully and sensitively uses the pressure points to release blocked energy and create a flow of harmonious, balanced energy within the body, mind and spirit.
Techniques include gentle rotations, starching, manipulation and holding.
