Equines (horses, ponies and donkeys) are as we know extremely sensitive creatures.

They respond to a tiny fly landing on their coats… they are affected by their environment, by noise, by our moods… They can easily become tense and stressed and, like ourselves, are not always able to release it in a healthy way. We have all heard of or experienced a “neurotic” or “depressed” horse.
We work our Equine friends hard. We sit on the weakest part of their body, we ask them to preform a wide variety of physical tasks… schooling, dressage, jumping, hacking, pulling vehicles… and expect a certain level of willingness and loyalty. We prefer them to be even tempered and kind to lower our risk of injury.
We often treat ourselves to a physical “treatment” to ease strained muscles and mental stress or to enhance our general sense of wellbeing. Why not do the same for our Equine companions? They deserve it!
Shiatsu is extremely effective also in treating a huge range of specific ailments, injures and conditions common to Equines. It boosts the circulatory, lymphatic and respiratory systems and taps into the “Para-sympathetic nervous system” (which is what kicks in when a horse is being eaten by a predator so that they stop feeling pain) thus enabling the horse to experience deep relaxation.
